Cardiac Asthma Cure

Cardiac asthma is not asthma in the true sense of the word but symptoms can be almost identical. Cardiac asthma is actually wheezing due to heart failure caused by a reduction in the pumping efficiency of the left side of the heart, which causes the lungs to fill with fluid (pulmonary oedema). The fluid build-up causes the airwaves to narrow and sometimes caused wheezing.

Cardiac asthma normally affects people during the night a few hours after going to bed, because lying down for long periods causes the lungs to fill with fluid. Relief is usually fairly quick when you sit up and the fluid drains away. If you have cardiac asthma you may also suffer from swollen ankles during the day, feel tired and suddenly put on weight. In all cases a doctor should be consulted, as it can be a life threatening condition.

The correct diagnosis of cardiac asthma is vital as the treatments can vary. If you have take too much bronchial medication and you in fact have cardiac asthma it can be very dangerous and worsen your illness and cause serious heart rhythms. Treatment involves diuretics( water pills) to help get rid of excess fluid and medication to improve the efficiency of the heart and control the night coughs.
